Principal's Message
Welcome to Julia Kiniski School! Our staff is a group of dedicated and caring professionals, who are committed to providing excellent educational programming for all students. We value a positive school climate where each student feels safe and where the uniqueness of each individual is respected. Our school has a strong history of guiding students to achieve their best academically, socially, emotionally, mentally, and physically. Teachers work with students daily to help them to develop the skills, knowledge and positive attitudes necessary to become responsible, respectful, caring, and contributing citizens. Our focus is on Success for Every Student! Staff work together as a team to make this happen, by developing literacy skills for the 21st century. In a rapidly evolving digital age, literacy learning goes beyond learning the basics or memorizing facts. It involves developing skills in communication, working together, sharing space together, emotional regulation, self-direction, leadership, global awareness, cultural literacy, information access, inquiry skills, critical and creative thinking, and problem-solving. We are pleased to provide the following programming:
Julia Kiniski School is a closed boundary school. As outlined in Division regulations, the only new students accepted to our school during pre-enrolment are: i) Resident students who live within the attendance area. ii) Siblings of current students who will be returning to the school the following year, unless otherwise determined by the Superintendent for a particular school. If the student you are registering or pre-enrolling meets one of these criteria for the 2021-2022 school year, please register them online (new students) or pre-enrol through SchoolZone (existing students). Following the close of pre-enrolment at 4:00 pm on April 15, 2021, the school will only accept resident students who have newly moved into the attendance area or resident students eligible for Kindergarten.
Virtual Kindergarten Open HouseThank-you to those parents that attended our Virtual Kindergarten Open House! If you would like to review the information from the open house please check out our JK Kindergarten Open House site.
NEW STUDENT REGISTRATIONIf your child is new to Edmonton Public Schools, you can register for school online. Visit the Division website to learn how to register for school. CURRENT DIVISION STUDENTS PRE-ENROLYou will need to pre-enrol on SchoolZone to tell us the school you’d like your child to attend next year. Find important dates and deadlines and learn more about pre-enrolment, which opens between March and April each year. If you have questions about registering for school, contact the school office.
Pre-enrol in SchoolZone Get ready for the 2021-2022 school year! Sign in to your parent SchoolZone account between March 8th and April 15th to select your child’s preferred school for next year. Whether your child is staying at the same school or changing schools, all students need to pre-enrol. Knowing how many students to expect helps schools prepare to welcome them in September. If you need help, contact the school or read the pre-enrolment handout.
Our school’s motto is Together we learn, together we grow! This motto is lived daily, through the teaching and learning in classrooms or at a distance; opportunities for meaningful connections; a focus on healthy living and daily physical activity; ongoing assessments that inform our work with students; regular communication between home and school; and through building an ongoing, collaborative, professional learning culture with staff. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher, or the school office, at 780-462-4622. Sherri Humphrys Principal Together we learn, together we grow! |
