Principal's Message

Welcome to Julia Kiniski!

Our motto is: Together we learn; together we grow. Our theme for this year is Belonging. We are excited to welcome our students back for the 2022/2023 school year and help each of them grow and flourish.

At Julia Kiniski School, we believe in the power of community. Together we can create a vibrant community supporting each child to learn and grow while developing resilience and well-being (and having a little fun along the way). The past couple of years have shown the strength of our community. Together we did grow and learn, and together we flourished despite the many disruptions and challenges. As we look ahead to this year, we remain committed to fostering a learning environment that encourages children to be curious, laugh, explore, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Our staff is a group of dedicated and caring professionals committed to providing quality learning experiences for all students. We value a positive school climate where each child feels safe and celebrated for their uniqueness. Staff work with students to develop creativity, communication, critical thinking, citizenship, character, and collaboration competencies.

We are pleased to provide the following:

  • Quality literacy and numeracy programming
  • French as a Second Language, Grades 4 - 6
  • Daily physical activities
  • A dynamic music program and a return to singing this year!
  • Leveraging digital tools to support learning
  • Flexible learning spaces to promote collaboration
  • A beautiful learning commons with a robust library collection
  • Student leadership opportunities
  • Extracurricular activities

We are grateful to have:

  • Parents and caregivers who work together with staff to provide the best for the children
  • The support of our School Council, JK Fundraising Association, and the Julia Kiniski Education Society for enriched learning opportunities and enhanced resources for our school.
  • A commitment to an Inclusive Culture

We look forward to a successful school year!

Yours in Education,

Sherri Humphrys M.Ed.

Principal

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION
If your child is new to Edmonton Public Schools, you can register for school online. Visit the Division website to learn how to register for school.

We are accepting registrations for the 23/24 school year for kindergarten students and students new to EPSB. Julia Kiniski School is a Level 2 Closed Boundary school. This means we are only able to accept resident students who live in the school's attendance area. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.

For information on our attendance area, please visit https://epsb.ca/schools/juliakiniski/

CURRENT DIVISION STUDENTS PRE-ENROL
You will need to pre-enrol on SchoolZone to tell us the school you’d like your child to attend next year. Find important dates and deadlines and learn more about pre-enrolment, which opens between March and April each year.

If you have questions about registering for school, contact the school office.

If you are registering for Kindergarten or if you are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.

Our school’s motto is Together we learn, together we grow!  This motto is lived daily through the teaching and learning in classrooms; opportunities for meaningful connections; a focus on healthy living and daily physical activity; ongoing assessments that inform our work with students; regular communication between home and school; and through building an ongoing, collaborative, professional learning culture with staff.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher, or the school office, at 780-462-4622.
