    School Profile

    Julia Kiniski School serves a diverse population of students from southeast Edmonton, including the neighbourhoods of Burnewood, Burnewood Junction, Kiniski Gardens, Creek's Crossing, and Maple Crest.

    We are organized into 18 classes, Kindergarten through Grade Six. Our school is a district site for a Connections Program for Grades 5-6 students.

    We benefit from the involvement of an active School Council and two fundraising organizations, the JK Fundraising Association and the Julia Kiniski Education Society, to enhance student learning through access to increased educational resources.

    Sports

    Julia Kiniski School Staff promote daily fitness and active living throughout the school. School-wide participation is encouraged for the annual Terry Fox Run, Canada Jersey Day and sports days. Students participate in the walk to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Our Running Club participates in cross country running, the Running Room Indoor Games, as well as track and field opportunities.

    At Julia Kiniski School, we believe that learning is a life-long journey and aim to foster this in our students. We aim to create a positive climate where all students have a sense of belonging, feel safe, and are celebrated and respected for their uniqueness. We support students to develop the competencies, skills, understandings, and knowledge necessary to contribute meaningfully to society and flourish in their lives. Our motto is "Together We Learn, Together We Grow." All members of the learning community (parents, caregivers, community members, staff, and students) work together to support student learning and growth.

Principal's Message

 

Welcome to Julia Kiniski School.

As the new principal of Julia Kiniski, I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve such an amazing school community. It is quite a privilege to join such a dedicated, hardworking team and I am looking forward to all of the exciting opportunities, new relationships and the challenges that lie ahead.

At Julia Kiniski our motto is Together, we learn; together, we grow.

We celebrate our students by creating a safe and welcoming environment where every child can flourish and feel proud of themselves. We value a positive school climate where each child feels safe and celebrated for their uniqueness. 

Together we can build outstanding learning opportunities for all students, advance actions towards anti-racism and reconciliation and promote a comprehensive approach to student and staff well-being and mental health.  We will continue to provide high quality teaching and learning opportunities that focus on literacy, numeracy and fostering resiliency in our students.

Education is a partnership and our parent community is vital in the success of all our students.   At Julia Kiniski we encourage our families to be active in their child’s learning. We strive to build strong relationships between staff, students, families and look forward to meeting everyone through the school year.

We are grateful to have the support of our School Council, JK Fundraising Association and the Julia Kiniski Education Society for enriching learning opportunities and enhances resources for our school

For the 2024 - 2025 school year, Julia Kiniski School is full in planned classes from Kindergarten to Grade 6 in the regular program. A Kindergarten student who is a resident and lives in the school's attendance area may still register. We will only accept resident students in Grades 1 to 6 who have newly moved into the school’s attendance area for the regular program. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enroll in another Division school with space in planned classes.

If you are registering for Kindergarten or are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION
If your child is new to Edmonton Public Schools, you can register for school online. Visit the Division website to learn how to register for school.

Julia Kiniski School is a Level 2 Closed Boundary school. This means we can only accept resident students who live in the school's attendance area. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enroll in another Division school with space in planned classes.
