Principal's Message

Welcome to another year of learning and growth at Julia Kiniski School! Our staff is a group of dedicated and caring professionals, committed to providing excellent educational programming for all students. Our school’s motto is Together we learn, together we grow.  This motto is lived daily, through the teaching and learning in classrooms; through social opportunities on the playground; through ongoing informal and formal assessments that inform our work with students; through regular communication between home and school; and through building an ongoing professional learning culture for staff.

Julia Kiniski School currently serves a diverse population of 285 students from the Mill Woods neighbourhoods of Burnewood, Burnewood Junction, Creek’s Crossing, and Kiniski Gardens. We are currently organized into eleven classes, kindergarten through grade six, as well as three district level Behaviour and Learning Assistance classes, in grades three to six. We offer an inclusive learning environment for a range of diverse educational needs.

At Julia Kiniski School, our motto is "Together We Learn, Together We Grow". We value a positive climate where each student feels safe and where the uniqueness of each individual is respected. Through our focus on excellent student achievement and behaviour we believe that students will develop the skills, knowledge and positive attitudes necessary to become responsible, respectful, caring, and contributing citizens.

In our professional learning, staff are focusing on student engagement in learning through 21st century literacies across the curriculum. In a rapidly evolving digital age, literacy learning goes beyond learning the basics. It involves developing skills in communication, collaboration, leadership, self direction, global awareness, cultural literacy, information access, inquiry skills, critical and creative thinking, and problem solving.

If you would like to discuss ways in which you can become involved at Julia Kiniski School, please call the school office. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher, or the school office.
